You should start as soon as possible. The more time you give yourself the more options you will have. Most brides start shopping one year before their wedding, this gives you enough time to order and have alterations completed. Keep in mind our dresses take 4 to 8 months to order, and we recommend another 3 months for alterations. We have rush options available for brides with shorter timelines, and ready to go options in store. Book your appointment as soon as possible to maximize your options!
Yes! We offer a variety of appointments to give each bride the experience and enjoyment she prefers!
Absolutely! Take as many pictures as you like. If you post them to social media, please tag us!
Masks are optional and will depend on each bride’s comfort level. If the bride would like her consultant to wear a mask, please let us know and we would be happy to do so. Make sure to bring everyone you need to say YES to the dress! Lots of our brides say, “Yes to the dress!” on their first visit to The Gown! It’s amazing!!
We request that all of our guests remove their shoes upon arrival. We have team bride slides that you can wear, or you can bring your own slippers! Don’t forget, after you say yes, the consultant will have to take your measurements in your undergarments, so a strapless bra and full back panties, are a good idea. Also, brides must wear underwear to try on dresses.
We recommend bringing only those nearest and dearest to you. We can safely seat the bride plus 3 guest in-store for our regular-sized suites or the bride plus 8 guests for an additional fee in our luxury suite. For all appointments, can have up to 10 virtual guests to join you via Zoom. Please see our Appointments page for details.
While we take measurements, this is to select the designer’s size that is closest to your size and our dresses are not made-to-measure. With any special order, expect to need some alterations including hem. Again, we will take your measurements to see what size dress will fit you best, although the size will be accurate, every person's body shape is different. Expect to need alterations to make the dress fit your body shape.
We do not have alterations on site. We highly recommend Tanis Emmett Wedding Style located in Stouffville for all of our bride’s alterations needs!
Our samples in store range from a bridal size 8 – 28. The dresses we carry can be ordered in bridal sizes from 0 – 34, depending on each designer’s availability.
Of course! Many of our brides who say yes to the dress complete their bridal look at their first appointment. We have veils, belts, jewelry, and other accessories to help you make your look truly your own!
Due to COVID-19 restrictions being enforced, we recommend giving yourself as much time as possible. Wedding dresses take 5 – 12 months to arrive in the store, with rush options available for an additional fee. We have a selection of sample wedding dresses available same-day at a reduced price. We recommend an additional two months for alterations. Veils and belts are typically special ordered and arrive in 3 months or less.
Within two weeks of placing your special order, you will receive a call from us giving you an estimated delivery date. This date will be within the order timeline mentioned above. It’s a great date to circle on the calendar to look forward to!
Wedding dresses range in price from $599 to $5000. Most wedding dresses are in the $1600 – $2800 price range.
